The Kolo book is simply the blank canvas. Kolo is invited fine artists, writers, poets and photographers to exhibit their Kolo books loaded with their view or image of Berlin, whether it be words, photographs, sketches, or other artwork. It was open to artists all over the world.
The finished work was on display for a three-week exhibition in five renowned specialty shops that focus on the fine art, paper and photography worlds, then travel for international exhibitions.
Each of these locations had Kolo Exhibitions located at the front of their stores with loads of examples of books converted to art. A self-guided walking tour allowed everyone to visit each location to see the unique interpretations of the city.
If you¹re an artist, painter, photographer, poet or writer, there is still time to submit your vision of this magical place known as The Millennium City. Drop off your finished Berlin-theme Kolo book at Hauptsache at Rosenthaler Strasse 32 in Berlin, by October 30, 2009 for review by a committee of creative professionals.
